Marc Chapman Claims British Championship

Over the weekend of 15/16th October Marc Chapman produced a near faultless performance in claiming his Second British Championship.

Marc dropped only two shots over the seven rounds in an eight shot victory ahead of five time Champion Michael Smith, with defending Champion Seve Kukielka completing the podium.

As usual there were also a variety of different category championships being contested over the  weekend.

Seniors Championship.

Martin Greenhead (Strokes) took his fourth Seniors title in five years, with an 11 shot victory over defending Champion Steve Lovell (Wasps) with Scott Lancley (Thanet Silverbacks) a further two shots back in third.

Women’s Championship:

Multiple Champion Ruth Burke (Gemini) defended her title by a single shot from three time Champion Shelley Cooper (Thanet Silverbacks), with former Youth Champion Chloe Allart-Bennett (Thanet Silverbacks) taking the Bronze Medal.

Following a disappointing performance at the Strokes Open in March, I was somewhat surprised to be leading after the first day. I was nervous on Sunday and was relieved and delighted to have managed the victory by acing the final hole. Shelley and Chloe were brilliant playing partners and I’d like to give a big thanks as always to Steve for his support throughout the weekend”

 

Super Seniors Championship:

Richard Jones (Wales) took his first national title (The Dave Donnelly Salver) with an 11 under par total of 241, six shots ahead of two time Champion Andy Exall (Thanet Silverbacks) on 247, with another former Champion Terry Exall (Thanet Silverbacks) third with a score of 251.

“Very happy to end my weekend with seven under par rounds, as British Super Senior Champion and my best major so far in fourth overall”.

Youth Title:

Congratulations to Elena Teubler on her success, our first female Youth Champion. Contested over 4 rounds on Saturday, Elena took the title with a score of 157, with her brother Julian Teubler taking the Silver medal with a score of 173, with Ryan Lancley completing a podium clean sweep for the Thanet Silverbacks on 188.
