A weekend of thrilling minigolf action in Taunton saw new names added to the BMGA history books, as Steve Hunt captured his maiden BMGA Grand Prix title and the pairing of Rachel King and David Woodcock stormed to victory in the Doubles event.
Congratulations to Steve Hunt on securing his first-ever BMGA Grand Prix win in style. Steve shot a brilliant three-round total of 86 (-22), including a phenomenal round of 26—a score that ties the course record. Dropping just one shot over 54 holes, it was a masterclass in consistency and precision.
Hot on his heels was David Woodcock, the reigning English Open Champion, who continued his strong form with a total of 88 (-20), also featuring a spectacular round of 26. Jon Angel rounded out the podium with 89 (-19), clinching third place after edging Seve Kukielka in a playoff at the first hole.
In Category 2, it was a playoff thriller between Elena Teubler and Balazs Tompa, with Elena taking gold after six dramatic playoff holes. Both players carded an impressive 91 (-17), while Paul Preston secured bronze, just a shot back.
Category 3/4 saw Marton Geda post a superb 90 (-18) to take the win. Murray Thompson and Shaun Stimpson were tied behind, with Murray earning silver thanks to an ace at the first playoff hole.

British Grand Prix Doubles
The action continued on Sunday with the BMGA Grand Prix Doubles, where teamwork and strategy took centre stage. The duo of Rachel King and David Woodcock put in a clinical performance, combining consistent putting with composed play under pressure. Their final total of 57 (-15) over two rounds included a red-hot 27 in round 2, setting the pace and proving uncatchable on the day.
Just one stroke behind were the seasoned pairing of Andy and Terry Exall, who showcased their usual chemistry and consistency to earn a well-deserved silver medal with a round total of 58 (-14).
The battle for bronze was one of the day’s highlights. After finishing level on the scoreboard, Jon Angel and Ricky Turner edged out Seve Kukielka and Paul Preston in a gripping playoff that stretched to four holes with Jon Angel and Ricky Turner prevailing eventually.
The Doubles event continues to grow in popularity and competitiveness, with exciting pairings and tight finishes becoming a hallmark of the format. It was a fantastic display of cooperative skill and sportsmanship across the board.
