Fantastic fifth British Singles Matchplay title for Michael Smith

Michael Smith of Gloucester Aces Minigolf Club showed that he still has his cutting edge by winning the British Singles Matchplay at Vivary Park Adventure Golf on Saturday 28th September 2024.

Smith had previously won this title four times and made it five in a closely fought contest in the final with Chris Randell. Randell is having a great season so far and he pushed Smith all the way, only losing by 1 in the end. In the fight for the bronze medal, two true legends of the tour went head to head (Andy Exall and John McIver). Andy Exall prevailed with a 2&1 victory to claim bronze.

In Pool B, there were some excellent performances in the latter stages with Matt Dodd beating Balazs Tompa in the 3rd/4th play off match and Shaun Stimpson taking gold from David Woodcock with a 3&2 victory.

Vivary Park Adventure Golf is a course that has plenty of aces available and this led to an exciting day of matchplay with shock results throughout the group stages. Congratulations to all who took part!
