David Woodcock seals debut tour win at English Open
Congratulations to David Woodcock, who sealed his first BMGA Tour Title with a convincing win at the English Open at Vivary Park Adventure Golf in Taunton on Sunday 29th September.
In what looked to be a close contest, David pulled away in the final round to eventually win by 5 shots from tour legend and current British No.1 Seve Kukielka. There were three players tied for places 2-4 on -23, and with Seve taking 2nd place; Jon fought off Michael Smith to secure his podium place in a thrilling play-off.
With over 30 players taking part there was some excellent scoring on the day, with two players (David Woodcock and Matthew McPherson) equalling the course record of 27.
In Category 2, with Jon coming 3rd it meant that Luke Ryan took the gold medal with a fantastic scoring of -20. Matt Dodd came 2nd with Paul Preston in 3rd.
In what is always a closely fought Category and with a Category 3 player taking the overall title (!), Matthew McPherson came first after a play off with Rachel King and Balazs Tompa took the bronze.
It was a fantastic event at the lovely facility that is Vivary Park. Well done to all who took part!
