Chris Randell impresses at Prestayn

Chris Randell claimed his first ever BMGA title defeating a record field in Prestatyn to win the 2024 Welsh Crazy Golf Championships on 30 June.

Chris conquered the windy conditions to win by 2 shots with a total of 99 ahead of David Hartley (Hastings) and Steve Lovell (Sussex Wasps). David clinching second place in a playoff.

Fourth place was also decided with a playoff, Richard Jones (Welsh) defeating James Hollinrake (Foxes) at the second extra hole.

Chris had the following thoughts after his win ‘I can’t believe my win came so early in my first season on the BMGA Tour. The conditions were tough, with the wind blowing in from the coast, but I managed to keep my scoring consistent enough to just secure the win. I’d like to thank all my playing partners across the three rounds and to everyone who competed. Special thanks to the Prestatyn Crazy Golf Team and the Welsh Minigolf Club for hosting such a great event.’

Category 2 was won by Ted McIver (Hastings) on 104 ahead of Shelley Cooper (Foxes) 105 and Matt Dodd (Strokes) 106.

The Category 3 winner was Henri Myers (Aces) on 105, winner of a playoff with David Woodcock (Aces) and two shots clear of course owner Christine Jones.

Local youngster Tomos Longley playing his first minigolf competition won the Junior award ahead of Finn McPherson, his sister Grace Longley and Daisy Woodcock.
