Martin Greenhead wins again
Martin Greenhead (Strokes) claimed his second title in three events to continue his fine early season form, with a thrilling one stroke victory at the Dunton Open.
Trailing by four shots going into the final round, Martin’s 41 saw him edge ahead of a competitive field, where the result was in doubt until the final putt was holed.
Simon Brown (Aces) finished a shot back on 127 with Mark Wood (Strokes) third on 129, after defeating Ruth Burke (Gemini) and James Rutherford (Strokes) in a play off. Ruth then claimed the fourth place leaving James in fifth.
Martin speaking after securing his second tour victory “ Dunton is always a challenging course, one that we love being at but at times all find infuriating as it can be difficult, especially as the weather changes. I was very pleased to get the win, there was strong challenge from players around me but shots went my way and I managed to hold it together. I’d like to call out my partners in the early rounds, Julian Teubler and Chris Randell, who were very impressive in their first tournament at Dunton. Also thanks to Ruth and Steve Sturdy for being great playing partners in the last round”
Will Donnelly (Strokes) won another Cat 2 Gold Medal, with a score of 133, Julian Teubler (Thanet) continued his fine Gloucester form in taking Silver on 141, Paul Preston (Aces) claimed the Bronze Medal on 142.
In Cat 3/4, Steve Sturdy (Gemini) took an impressive Gold Medal, with a score of 134. Chris Randell (Aces) took Silver on 138, John Sharp (Thanet) Bronze on 140.
James Rutherford (Strokes) took the Aces Champion prize with three Aces, after a play off with Steve Lovell (Wasps)
