Players’ & International Players’ Championship

The Players Championship and International Players Championship return in 2026, taking place as is tradition on the Friday before the British Open.

Play will commence from 4pm, giving players the perfect opportunity to sharpen their competitive edge ahead of the weekend’s British Open action.

With the British Open just around the corner, these championships are a great way to get into tournament mode, test your competitive edge and take on some of the players who will be competing throughout the weekend.

FORMAT

Both championships will begin with one round of strokeplay, with all players competing for qualification into the knockout stage.

Players Championship

The eight players with the lowest scores will qualify for a round of matchplay. In the event of a tie for the final qualifying position, a sudden-death play-off will determine who progresses.

The remaining four players will contest a final strokeplay round to decide the Players Championship title.

International Players Championship

The format is the same, but with the top four players qualifying for the matchplay stage.

The four matchplay qualifiers will battle it out for a place in the head-to-head final round of strokeplay to determine the International Players Champion.
