British Championships

The first major of the year, the British Championships returns to one of UK’s premier courses, Strokes Adventure Golf in Margate.

Although the British Championships date back to 1998, the first standalone edition of the Championships were held in 2003 in Stratford-upon-Avon. Before this the first 5 years of the competition were held within the British Open for British Nationals only.

As the Championships evolved, different categories were introduced and by 2005 there were several separate classes for different age ranges and gender. The British Women’s Championship was introduced in 2003, with the British Junior Championship and British Senior Championship following in 2005. In 2019 we saw the introduction of the Super Seniors and the General Class Men’s Championship.

The British Championships is one of the 3 Majors of Minigolf in the UK (alongside the British Open and World Crazy Golf Championships). The player with the most overall titles is Michael Smith, who has won the event on 5 separate occasions. The current champion is Seve Kukielka who recently won his 3rd British Championships in October 2025 at Strokes Adventure Golf in Margate.

There is a £12 day rate available throughout the year for BMGA Members and the course will be opening for practice from Wednesday 18th March 2026.
