Michael Smith Claims Strokes Open

Michael Smith (Gloucester Aces) took the inaugural Strokes Open with a seven shot victory from home club hope Marc Chapman, who edged out Stephen Skinner (Wales MGC) in a play off.

Michael was in sublime form, dropping only two shots on his way to ultimately claim a comfortable victory. Marc was solid in taking the runners up spot ahead of Stephen who produced another fine performance.

Adrian Amey (Strokes) continued his fine early season form in taking the Cat 2 Gold Medal just ahead of clubmate Matt Dodd who beat Dave Gomm (Hastings) in a playoff for Silver

In Cat 3/4, Shelley Cooper (Thanet), excelled in finishing seventh overall, took the Gold Medal, nine shots ahead of Chloe Allart-Bennett (Thanet) with James Teubler (Thanet) a further shot back

Jon Angel (Foxes) took the coveted Most Improved Player prize with a 12 shot improvement between rounds one three.

The Aces prize was shared by Rocky Bullin (Aces) and Scott Lancley (Thanet) with 13 aces apiece.

Marion Hartley (Hastings) took the top Women’s medal, for players outside the category prizes.

Elena Teubler (Thanet) took the top Youth player prize
