Hastings Minigolf Club Open 2023
The 5th March saw the BMGA season curtain raiser held at the Hastings
Adventure Golf – The Hastings Minigolf Open 2023.
The Competition consisted of 3 rounds solely on the Adventure Course and
with 62 players entered, this was the biggest field for a one day event in
BMGA history.
After the first round there were five players under par with Seve Kukielka
leading the way on a superb 33, closely followed by Richard Maud and
Steve Skinner on 34. Hastings Minigolf Club Captain Paul Tutt and Richard
Jones of the Welsh Minigolf Club both finished with 35. There were 28
players that shot a score under 40 in their first round which was a fantastic
achievement and it was all to play for in round two.
Round two saw seven players post scores under par; this included players
such as Michael Smith, Simon Brown, Andy Exall & Cam Fincher. Again,
several players scored under 40 which is testament to just how the standard
of minigolf in the UK has improved over the last 12 months. Seve and
Richard Maud continued their fine form, both posting a 33.
After a break for lunch, the third and final round took place with Seve
leading, Richard (1 behind), Cam, Andy & Michael (4 behind) – it was all to
play for.
Another great score of 33 would see Seve take the title, Richard finishing
second and Michael third.
Seve won the trophy with 13 aces but more impressively, he only dropped 4
shots in 54 holes.
A special mention goes to Ruth Burke for winning the top lady’s prize and
Rhiannon Davison for winning the ‘most improved’ award.

Message from Hastings Minigolf Captain:
I would just like to personally thank every single player that competed in the
Hastings Minigolf Open 2023.
Without all of you this event would have not been the success it was, I really
hope you enjoyed the day.
Well done to our winner Seve Kukielka, along with Richard Maud and
Michael Smith who fished second and third respectively.
The scores this year were a big improvement on last year’s competition and
that just goes to show how the standard has improved throughout the field. I
am sure it will improve again next year.
I would like to thank Chris, Simon and everyone else at Hastings Adventure
Golf for letting us host the competition and helping us make sure the day
run smoothly.
Special mentions go to David and Marion Hartley for all their hard work
and effort in helping me organise and run the event; without their help I
would not have been able to host a competition of this size; Martyn
Williams for doing such a great job with the scoring and Clare and Donna
for being there to help out on the day.
