Sunday 16th August saw the BMGA Doubles Matchplay Championship take place, again at the challenging Dunton Hills course. 32 players, 16 pairs, some dubious team names and more than few ‘lively’ shirts, took their skills to the course to find out who would be crowned the champions.
After 3 group games, and 3 knockout games, the 2 time defending champions completed the 3-peat. DD27, Michael Smith and Will Donnelly, lifted the trophies with a 4+2 win in the final. De La Hole, Steve Lovell and Ed Pope, finished in 2nd place. The Two Horsemen, Andy and Matt Exall, rounding out the top 3.
A massive congratulations to Michael and Will. 6 wins out of 6, with a series of great performances securing them the title.
The Plate competition was won by Smooth Rocket, James Rutherford and Adrian Amey. The podium places going to Puttered Scones for Tee, Brenda and Chris Smith, in 2nd place. Off the Bench, Helen and Matt Dodd, finishing 3rd. In what is unprecedented times for us all, it was fantastic to see the spirit and camaraderie being shown through-out every game. We at the BMGA want to thank all of the players for their commitment to the game, for following the guidelines, and most of all for having fun.
Also a big thanks again to the staff and owners of the Dunton Hills course for their hospitality.

The next event on the BMGA Calendar is the Sussex Wasps Open in Peterborough on the 30th August. We hope to see you all then!
